Purpose of the society

It is the purpose of the Society to encourage research in these and related fields, and to promote their application in Medicine and the Life Sciences. The Society will, wherever possible, support or initiate ways of achieving these objectives through its own activities, by exchange of information and cooperation with other groups in the field of biotelemetry, and by participation in the establishment of international standards for biomedical telemetry.

The field of biotelemetry comprises a number of subspecialties, including

  • medical telemetry
(ambulatory monitoring, bedside monitoring, functional control, telemedicine, radiotracking, telecontrol, teletherapy)
  • human research telemetry
  • animal telemetry
  • implantable telemetry
